What do you have to do during tryouts in order to make the team? And also, how much harder are the practices than they were in 8th grade? My cousin just got a hernia practicing for footbal (carrying a railroad tie)l in 11th grade and needs surgery.   This is only my second year and the time doubles during matches…will people of my ability be able to take the new conditions…

    Cody,

Good to hear from you. Here are your answers:

    1. Wrestlers only “cut” themseves. Go to practice every day and coach will consider you a valuable member of our program.

    2. Practices in the H.S. are much more intense. Your body and mind will rise to this higher level quickly.

    3. Like the more intense practices, you will quickly adjust to the longer periods. 1-1-1 will seem like kiddy shchool. Coach Johnson will help you adjust to this by having you wrestle longer periods in practice (5-5-5).

Sorry to hear about your brother. You will not be throwing railroad ties but you will be lifting and throwing your partner from time to time.  Listen, be a good partner (work hard) and go to practice every day and you will do just fine.
